HP wants to delve deeper into the mobile device market with the introduction of two hybrid laptop/tablet devices running on Windows 8 and Android platform.

The forthcoming HP Split x2 (Windows
and SlateBook x2 (Android) have fair amount of specs that could be worth checking out. First is the Windows 8 powered laptop/tablet hybrid, Split x2 that has a 13.3-inch touchscreen panel, 1,366 x 768 resolution, Intel Ivy Bridge Core i3 or i5 CPU option, 2MP webcam and SSD storage. Its detachable keyboard provides additional battery juice aside from an optional 500GB extra HDD space. Other specs include WiDi, microSD/full-SD card expansion, USB 2.0/3.0 ports, HDMI and Beats Audio.
On the other hand, the Android-powered SlateBook x2 has the latest Jelly Bean OS (4.2.2) inside with a powerful Nvidia Tegra 4 SoC, 10-inch touchscreen panel, 1920 x 1200 resolution, 64GB internal storage, DTS Sound+ Solution, USB port, stereo speakers, SD/microSD readers and a detachable keyboard that provides extra battery life and a multitouch trackpad. There’s also a keyboard shortcut for Google voice search while other pre-loaded apps include Google Now, Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, Google+ and access to Google Play
The latest x2 devices join HP’s other detachable PC products, Envy x2 and Slate7. Both are scheduled for release on August with the Split x2 priced at $ 800 while the SlateBook x2 at $ 480.
