iPad 5 Imminent As Older Model Gets Price Drop

It’s only been around 150 days or so since the iPad Mini hit the market, but massive price cuts on iPad products at Best Buy, MacMall and Wal-Mart have started rumors that Apple is clearing the way for the arrival of the iPad 5.

Some buyer guides that recently came out have recommended the iPad to consumers as safe investments since the product has just been upgraded but it looks like these guides have to be updated again, especially since Best Buy, MacMall and Wal-Mart have started clearance sales and have lowered the prices of 3rd-gen iPads and the latest iPad mini to 30%.

However, some analysts are still deciding whether these price cuts are really an indication that the iPad 5 is coming or it’s just resellers trying to clear out their stocks. After all, the performance of the third and fourth-gen iPad can’t exactly be described as stellar, both sales and specs wise. Some have pointed out that the iPad 3 might have the Retina display but it sacrificed on height and weight, without any real computing performance boost. It was almost the same issue when the current iPad came out, with some users having mixed reactions to the minimal changes Apple had done to the product.

For those who want to take advantage of this price drop, resellers are offering the 16GB third-gen iPad for only $ 315 and the 32GB model at $ 385.

Apple Begins Blocking Older Versions of Adobe Flash Due to Security Concerns

Apple has now begun actively blocking older versions of the Adobe Flash Player plug-in from running on Macs due to significant security concerns – just as they have recently blocked a number of versions of Java. The news was first reported by Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, who spotted a support article from Apple about the block.

From Apple’s support article:

To help protect users from a recent vulnerability, Apple has updated the web plug-in-blocking mechanism to disable older versions of the web plug-in: Adobe Flash Player

See this article for details.

Apple has become quite agressive lately with their efforts to block security issues in web plugins – many of which could significantly compromise their users if left unchecked. In reality, it shouldn’t be Apple’s responsibility to clean up after Adobe (in the case of Flash Player) and Sun (in the case of Java) – but considering that Java and Flash just can’t seem to keep their plugins secure on their own, it seems appropriate. At least someone is looking out for users’ security…

Kutcher Tweets Photo Of Himself As Older Steve Jobs

We’ve seen that Ashton Kutcher made himself look quite like the younger Steve Jobs in the ‘jOBS’ film, however what would he look like as older Jobs? Kutcher himself tweeted a photo of half the real Jobs and half himself as the older Jobs, and they do really look alike.

If you were to hide the real Jobs, the average person might just mistake Kutcher for him at first glance. The script may be ‘crap’, as Steve Wozniak says, but I can’t think of a better choice than Kutcher for the Steve Jobs role.

iOS 6 Will Kill Youtube App, Retained On Older Versions

Are you one of those Apple fans who always scratch their head in frustration when you look at your iPhone, or iPad, and see the YouTube app on it? Well, we do feel your pain. We have constantly been asking ourselves why we bother to use the app when all it gives is a game of strike or miss — especially when playing that five minute video that takes forever to load. As some who are already experts of searching m.youtube.com on Safari, this trick provides faster streams and better list of options rather than using the native app.

This has been going on for five excruciating years for Apple and its millions of iOS users. Fortunately, the contract between the two companies has ended according to a representative from Big A. With this, the YouTube app will no longer become part of the new iOS 6 for the upcoming iPhones and iPads. Apple has always been for great design and absolute functionality in their products and applications. Unfortunately, the YouTube app did not just make the cut.

Other stuffs that will not be seen in the next iOS 6 will be Google Maps since the company will be launching its very own version called ‘Maps’. On the other hand, some say that Google is trying its best to develop a better YouTube app. We have yet to see any improvements regarding this.

Anyway, those who will miss that brown-TV icon will still be able to use it on previous iOS versions (5+ below).
