After months of speculation, the Xbox One from Microsoft finally had a coming out party in Redmond, Washington. It is scheduled to hit the store shelves at the latter part of the year. The next generation console, dubbed as ‘all-in-one’ game console applies the basic strategy of ‘simple, instant, and complete.

Designed to be the focal point in everyone’s living room, the Xbox One features a slot-loading drive that has the Blu-ray technology. It boasts of an octa-core processor which got its inspiration from the Jaguar design of AMD. There’s even a RAM of 8GB and DDR3 included that would somehow make the PS4 from Sony look less appealing.

Other features include USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, hard drive storage of 500GB, WiFi Direct for easy manipulation of the new controller, and gigabit Ethernet. Apparently, it was built having the x86 PC-styled architecture in order to gain gaming compatibility with 360 games. The box is reminiscent of the HTPC with its silver and black case; and bears the ubiquitous Xbox logo in an enlarged version.

The Xbox One has a GPU that is designed for DirectX 11.1 graphics and embedded ESRAM memory of high bandwidth 32MB. There’s a 28nm chip that is capable of consuming 100 watts which is a bit higher than the ones found in PS3 and the Xbox Slim. Moreover, Microsoft pledges that the cooling fans shall be quieter by up to four times.

The console will be bundled with Kinect and will contain infrared depth sensor of 250,000 pixels. It will also feature a web cam of 720p. Video and audio features will be 1080p and 4K which are both supported. Surround sound is said to be 7.1.

The Xbox One’s WiFi connectivity feature will also enable it to communicate with other devices such as tablets and other Windows smartphones. Definitely, this system will not interrupt its Internet connection. To maintain its strong WiFi signal, using two radios can just do the trick.

With the new Xbox One, you can easily switch from TV mode to gaming mode and vice versa in just one click. You can also try turning it off for a while if you feel a bit confused. Price will be announced near its shipping date.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Friday that Apple devices running iOS 6 or later have been approved for access to its secure government networks.

In a statement released by the Defense Department, the U.S. government confirmed that iPhones and iPads running Apple’s latest mobile operating system are now cleared for use on its networks. The approval, which was expected, is part of a military plan to allow employees the flexibility to use commercial products on secure government networks.

The Pentagon gave indications last week that approval was forthcoming. The OK comes two weeks after similar approvals for Samsung Galaxy and BlackBerry 10 devices.

The new rules allow defense department employees to use the latest Apple devices, along with Samsung Knox-compatible units, and BlackBerry handsets running the company’s new BlackBerry 10 platform.

Yahoo-Tumblr Acquisition Gets Official, Announcement Next Week

Yahoo’s next target of acquisition has been going around in the newsroom for a couple of days now and it seemed like it has its eyes set on the popular blogging site Tumblr. If the deal pushes through, it would be Yahoo’s biggest deal to date and perhaps something that would give CEO Marissa Mayer the much needed boost as she tries to revive the company’s glory by gaining younger customers.

The rumored deal was hinted at a special event held in New York City which was attended by the press after being invited by Yahoo. Though it wasn’t really expressed directly, the company seemed excited as they utter words about sharing something special real soon.

We must take note that Yahoo had been very active lately when it comes to gaining new acquisitions. Some of these include Astrid and Summly. However, those deals can never be categorized as huge. At this point, Yahoo has decided to make that big leap by turning its attention on acquiring Tumblr. The targeted deal is even described as something more expensive than the acquisition venture of Facebook on Instagram. The said deal was reported to have a total cost of $ 715 million both in cash and stock.

Ever since Yahoo had Marissa Mayer as its new CEO, both fans and critics alike have been very keen on keeping their eyes widely open as the company struggles to turn their fate around. Should the Tumblr deal be concluded, it will be the company’s biggest acquisition expenditure which could somehow compensate for some of those acquisition losses that occurred with Broadcast.com and Geocities. With an impressive record of web traffic and an envied social prominence, Tumblr seemed the most ideal solution in giving Yahoo its much needed relevance boost. However, it is not actually clear if the planned acquisition could also bring in huge revenue.

The buying bid is said to have a cost of $ 1.1 billion which is deemed by Tumblr as ‘too low.’ Nevertheless, it tries to be optimistic by describing the offer as an ‘initial’ fee. The company has also expressed its intention to market itself to other interested buyers if Yahoo’s offer is not good enough for their standards.

GT fans can start celebrating as it was finally confirmed that Gran Turismo 6 will be released during this year’s holiday season on the PlayStation 3.

The announcement was made during the celebrations for Gran Turismo’s 15th anniversary. Along with that happy news, the game’s creator Kazunori Yamauchi also highlighted some of the game’s achievements, including moving 70 million copies of GT, easily making it the most successful game on PlayStation.

Gran Turismo 6 is touted to have a new game engine that makes the cars move more realistically and gives the game enough flexibility to expand its connectivity options to smart phones and tablets. Aside from that, GT6 also has new aerodynamics, tire and suspension models courtesy of their partnership with manufacturers like KW Automotive and Yokohama Rubber.

The next installation of Gran Turismo still has all the cars and tracks from GT5, plus new cars will continuously be added online. It’s estimated that by the time GT6 rolls-out, the game will boast of having 1,200 cars. It wasn’t explained how, but players can create their own personalized cars in GT6. And with thousands of aerodynamic parts and customized tires for almost any car model available in the game, players will undoubtedly grow crazy building their dream cars.

Gamers will enjoy tearing through Gran Turismo 6’s 33 tracks and 71 varied layouts, 19 of which are new. It’s reported that new tracks will be uploaded regularly through an online service.

Now, as for the question of the game will support Playstation 4 on its debut, we’ll just need to hear a confirmation about that on its official unveil this summer at E3.

First is the Windows 8 powered laptop/tablet hybrid, Split x2 that has a 13.3-inch touchscreen panel, 1,366 x 768 resolution, Intel Ivy Bridge Core i3 or i5 CPU option, 2MP webcam and SSD storage. Its detachable keyboard provides additional battery juice aside from an optional 500GB extra HDD space.
