After months of speculation, the Xbox One from Microsoft finally had a coming out party in Redmond, Washington. It is scheduled to hit the store shelves at the latter part of the year. The next generation console, dubbed as ‘all-in-one’ game console applies the basic strategy of ‘simple, instant, and complete.

Designed to be the focal point in everyone’s living room, the Xbox One features a slot-loading drive that has the Blu-ray technology. It boasts of an octa-core processor which got its inspiration from the Jaguar design of AMD. There’s even a RAM of 8GB and DDR3 included that would somehow make the PS4 from Sony look less appealing.
Other features include USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, hard drive storage of 500GB, WiFi Direct for easy manipulation of the new controller, and gigabit Ethernet. Apparently, it was built having the x86 PC-styled architecture in order to gain gaming compatibility with 360 games. The box is reminiscent of the HTPC with its silver and black case; and bears the ubiquitous Xbox logo in an enlarged version.
The Xbox One has a GPU that is designed for DirectX 11.1 graphics and embedded ESRAM memory of high bandwidth 32MB. There’s a 28nm chip that is capable of consuming 100 watts which is a bit higher than the ones found in PS3 and the Xbox Slim. Moreover, Microsoft pledges that the cooling fans shall be quieter by up to four times.
The console will be bundled with Kinect and will contain infrared depth sensor of 250,000 pixels. It will also feature a web cam of 720p. Video and audio features will be 1080p and 4K which are both supported. Surround sound is said to be 7.1.
The Xbox One’s WiFi connectivity feature will also enable it to communicate with other devices such as tablets and other Windows smartphones. Definitely, this system will not interrupt its Internet connection. To maintain its strong WiFi signal, using two radios can just do the trick.
With the new Xbox One, you can easily switch from TV mode to gaming mode and vice versa in just one click. You can also try turning it off for a while if you feel a bit confused. Price will be announced near its shipping date.
