Modbook Pro: Specs Upgrade Welcomed By Users

Mac-based pen tablet computer Moodbook Pro which is designed specifically for our friends and colleagues with creative minds recently got an enhancement. These enhancements include beefing up pen pressure sensitivity level, capacity of solid state drive (SSD) and capacity of the random access memory (RAM). This serves as good news to would be owners (those who pre-ordered) as their pen tablet computers will arrive at their hands already enhanced.

The pen pressure sensitivity level was increased from 512 to 1,024. This is actually four (4) times the industry standard for tablet computers and enables creative professionals to do precise and subtle control of renderings or drawings. On the other hand, its solid state drive (SSD) was also increased from 64GB (NisharaTM-class) drive to 120GB (SansharaTM class high-performance drive) with the latter offering superb performance and reliability. Lastly, the RAM also got an enhancement from the 4GB in the base model to 8GB.

If you happen to wonder why the tablet computer got an upgrade, information points to the company (Moodbook Inc.) scoring a better deal on parts from its manufacturers and the company having some financial leeway in its hands thereby making them include better hardware.

The good thing is that prices did not change as the Moodbook Pro still retails for $ 3,500. Those who pre-ordered can get the upgrades at no additional cost. Shipping is slated by the end of this month.

ModBook Pro Launch Details and Price Expectation

Several months ago, defunct Axiotron owner and ModBook Inc. CEO Andreas Haas, made a promise to launch a tablet that runs on Mac OS X while still being able to handle apps like Lightroom and Photoshop. It looks like that promise will soon be fulfilled with the impending launch of the Modbook Pro.

Inspired by a similar Axiotron product, the 13” ModBook Pro is a super tablet that will be running on Intel Core i7 and will be using solid-state drives (SSDs) for storage instead of the usual HDDs. The ModBook Pro will also have 16GB of RAM, a 1280 x 800 screen, DVD burner, Bluetooth and WiFi along with a USB3.0, SDXC ports and a 63.5 Whr battery that will keep it running for about 7 hours. Intenal storage starts at 64GB with the option to upgrade the SSD storage to 480GB.

Aside from these specs, a Wacom Active Digitizer and a ForceGlass pen interface will be integrated in every ModBook Pro making it the perfect portable gadget for architects, artists, designers and others in the creative industry.

There’s no word yet on how much the Modbook Pro will cost. But insiders say the company will release that important piece of information on October 3, when pre-ordering starts. US customers can place their orders online and shipping will begin on November.

Have you ever wished to do more with your tablet? Like, perhaps, have it completely replace your laptop?

Modbook has announced a new product yesterday which is probably be the most powerful tablet in the world today. Dubbed the Modbook Pro, it boasts to run up to a 2.9GHz dual core Intel Core i7 processor.

The Modbook Pro is a Mac-based tablet computer that uses a stylus. Essentially, it’s a new Apple Macbook Pro shrunk down to a 13.3-inch tablet that utilizes Wacom’s pen tablet technology. However, the Modbook Pro is more than just another tablet with a pen.

Look under the hood and you’ll see that this tablet is very much like a full-sized laptop. Specs include your choice of Intel Ivy Bridge processor (dual core 2.5GHz Core i5 or dual core 2.9GHz Core i7) up to 16GB RAM, your choice of 2.5-inch SATA drive (up to 1TB hard drive or up to 960GB SSD), and Intel HD 4000 Graphics chipset. Connectivity-wise, you’re looking at Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Ethernet, FireWire 800, USB 3.0, Thunderbolt, plus an SDXC card slot.

The tablet computer also features a state-of-the-art digitizer from Wacom, offering up to 512 levels of pen pressure sensitivity, and a scratch-resistant ForceGlass pen interface for a surface that emulates a paper when writing and drawing on it. Oh, and did we mention that the tablet has a 13.3-inch 1280 x 800 display? And that it can boot both Windows 7 and Mac OS X? Now how’s that for the most powerful tablet computer?

As you can deduce from these specs, the Modbook Pro is designed with creative professionals in mind. CEO Andrea Haas explains that while a touch sensitive tablet like the iPad is a good medium for creativity, you can only do so much drawing with your finger that you’d eventually need a pen for more intricate sketches and that’s where the Modbook Pro comes in. Or as he puts it, “finger-painting is fun when you’re five years old, but as soon as you get serious about it, you start picking up a stick or a pencil.” If the name Modbook seems familiar to you, it’s because the company is not exactly a new one. In fact, the first version of the Modbook was announced at least two years before the iPad. The company’s dream was delayed due to financial struggles which explain the long silence that preludes the tablet.

No word yet on how much the Modbook Pro will cost but we do know that it’s scheduled for an early fall release so we’ll probably find out before then.
