Bang With Friends, the Facebook-powered app with almost a million users that well, helps you well, do exactly what its name says, has just launched its iPhone and Android apps.

If you’ve somehow missed all the Bang With Friends commotion, here’s all you need to know: Bang With Friends tries to help you find folks amongst your Facebook social circle who share a common interest. And by “common interest”, I mean a desire to shag each other.

Once you’re logged into the app, you can privately select which friends, of either sex, you’d like to get to know, (in the biblical sense), if one of the friends you picked also happens to have picked you, then Bang With Friends will automatically connect you with them online so you can then “connect” offline. If there is no match, then no one ever has to know, it’s your little secret.

Until the launch of the mobile app, the service was entirely web-only. The addition of a mobile app seems to make sense, considering the aim of the app.

The mobile app has all the features the web-only version has, but it also adds two new features:

  • An Undo button, which let’s you change your mind if you chicken out over getting to know your friend a little more up close and personally. Believe it or not, previously there was no way you could deselect a friend if the fire down below you had for them fizzled out. Now, you simply tap the button a second time, and your crush is forgotten. (At least by the app.)
  • An “Up For Hang” button — Interested in one of your buddies, but would rather just hang out for awhile with the person and see if you would really like to get to know them better, just tap the “Up for Hang” button or flick upwards and you’ll be marked as wanting to hangout with your clothes on. (Careful, if you try to deselect the “Up for Hang” button by flicking down, it will deselect that option, but it will also activate the “Down to Bang” option. Could be a little embarrassing, eh?)

It’s a little surprising that the prudes at Apple approved this one, but I suppose the app is just being a little more honest than most dating apps as to the aim of its matching services.

Analyst Gene (Oh Grandpa!) Munster of investment bank Piper Jaffray says Apple’s share of the mobile web in the U.S. is not only dominating their competitor Android, but is also growing at the expense of Google’s OS. He believes this shows iOS users are generally more engaged with their devices than owners of rival handsets.

In a research note furnished to AppleInsider, Piper Jaffray noted that the third party data analysis from Investing Analytics showed significant growth in iOS Web share over the past three months. Android’s presence, while still substantial, is shrinking.

The study included mobile traffic for 10 of the top 100 mobile websites, including Answers.com, Tumblr, ChaCha, Examiner, LinkedIn, Bleacher Report, Hubpages, White Pages, Squidoo and Dictionary.com.

“For the second straight month in our tracking of the data, iOS gained on Android as a source of mobile traffic,” said Munster. “We believe the traffic data continues to demonstrate that iOS is not only the leading platform in the U.S., its users are generally more engaged with their mobile devices.”

For the month of April, iOS represented 69% of mobile traffic from the sites being monitored. That was up 2.6% from the March average of 66.4% and a 3.7% rise from February’s figures. During the same timeframe, Android lost some of their share of the web traffic, seeing it drop from a 29.7% share, down to 26.5%.

Three things that Munster believes contributes to Apple’s dominance in the United States: The iPhone’s position as the most popular smartphone platform in the U.S.; iOS users greater engagement with their devices over their Android using brethren; the iPads dominance in the tablet marketplace.

When broken down by device, the iPad has slowly gained on it’s smaller iOS counterpart. For February, Apple’s handset accounted for a 61.1% share of mobile traffic. By April, however, the iPhone fell to 58.30% while the iPad grew to a 41.7% average, up from from 38.7%.

Munster says his firm expects to see iOS continue to lead in mobile traffic generation in the U.S. for at least the rest of the year.

Among the most immediately obvious changes for existing users of Delicious Library is its updated look, which includes the use of SceneKit to boost the realism, along with subtle animation that allows shelf items to constantly move to face the user’s mouse cursor.

“We cranked up all the visuals and then cranked down every visual effect so it was something you didn’t notice very much,” Delicious Monster CEO Wil Shipley said. “This has all the graphics effects and polish of a game from a couple years ago. As far as I know, nobody else has used OpenGL in consumer products like this at all, much less the environment mapping and other stuff like that.”

The app also includes a new stats pane to give users quick overviews of their collections, along with a completely revamped recommendation engine.

“This isn’t about what I own, it’s about getting my personality in the computer,” Shipley said. “Now, if you scan your whole DVD collection, it provides a bunch of recommendations based on the aggregate of that information. Then if you rate them all, it’ll refine the recommendations.”

There is also a companion app for iOS, called Delicious Scanner. The app pairs with the user’s Mac over Wi-Fi, and allows the iOS device to act as a mobile barcode scanner.
