With iOS 6, Apple has granted Siri a number of new abilities. One of the new things Siri can do is to launch apps for you! This can be handy for users with lots of apps, and save you from digging through folders or scrolling through Spotlight.

Using the new command is a very simple task. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Hold down your home button until Siri is activated.
  2. Tell Siri which app you’d like to open by saying “Launch” or “Open”, and then the app name. In this example we used Twitter, so the command was “Launch Twitter.”
  3. In most cases, Siri will now immediately open your app. However, if there are multiple matches, or your didn’t state the name clearly, Siri will give you a list of options.
  4. Saying the proper app name, or simply tapping the app you want will launch it immediately.

That’s all there is to it! I hope you found this tip as useful as I did!

Kupa UltraNote Looks Amazing, Launch Date Still Out of Reach

MobileCon 2012 recently opened its doors to yet another tablet with a twist coming from a relatively sleeping manufacturer.

Kupa UltraNote Kupa UltraNote Looks Amazing, Launch Date Still Out of Reach

Kupa’s UltraNote modular tablet is something to awe upon and it brings with it all the necessary ingredients that we look for in a tablet: sleek, stylish yet tweaked to modernization and built to be an everyday cohort.

Picking its technical aspects, the UltraNote is a 10.1 inch slab with IPS display and a 10-point multitouch panel. It will carry Microsoft’s Windows 8 Operating System plus a generous serving options of either an Intel Core i3, i5 or 17 complete with Ivy Bridge processor; 4 or 8GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of SSD; 2 USB3.0 ports, and HDMI port and a 5megapixel rear facing camera with a decent 2megapixel front clicker to boot.

With all its bells and whistles, its modular design sets the UltraNote apart from the rest of the tablet market. By modular, Kupa means that the tablet can be physically modified, say with a card reader or a scanner. Its battery can also be replaced ala swappable memory card found in most Smartphones.

Kupa also has an optional keyboard dock for the UltraNote with a serving of various ports including USB and Ethernet. The built in battery can go up to 12 hours when the tablet is attached, making the UltraNote a hybrid tablet/laptop.

The 1.7 pound slab by Kupa is still without a sticker price but noticing the divulged specs, it won’t be on the mid-range even though the company isn’t as popular as Asus or Lenovo.
