iPad 5 Imminent As Older Model Gets Price Drop

It’s only been around 150 days or so since the iPad Mini hit the market, but massive price cuts on iPad products at Best Buy, MacMall and Wal-Mart have started rumors that Apple is clearing the way for the arrival of the iPad 5.

Some buyer guides that recently came out have recommended the iPad to consumers as safe investments since the product has just been upgraded but it looks like these guides have to be updated again, especially since Best Buy, MacMall and Wal-Mart have started clearance sales and have lowered the prices of 3rd-gen iPads and the latest iPad mini to 30%.

However, some analysts are still deciding whether these price cuts are really an indication that the iPad 5 is coming or it’s just resellers trying to clear out their stocks. After all, the performance of the third and fourth-gen iPad can’t exactly be described as stellar, both sales and specs wise. Some have pointed out that the iPad 3 might have the Retina display but it sacrificed on height and weight, without any real computing performance boost. It was almost the same issue when the current iPad came out, with some users having mixed reactions to the minimal changes Apple had done to the product.

For those who want to take advantage of this price drop, resellers are offering the 16GB third-gen iPad for only $ 315 and the 32GB model at $ 385.

Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Update: Download via Kies Goes Imminent

The top of the line Android smartphone Galaxy SIII was not handed out with the latest version of the OS, instead it was equipped with Ice Cream Sandwich. But it was announced that the device will be given an OS refresh, updating it to Android 4.1.2.

samsung galaxy s iii multi window Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Update: Download via Kies Goes Imminent

Word says that Samsung has started to roll out the updates to some Galaxy S III owners, which is said to be the international variants, the GT-19300. But the update is said to come in phases, which may depend on your country or network region. So that means not all of the Galaxy S III will be able to get the update at this moment.

It would not be called an upgrade if there’s no enhancements. Some of the new features were hailed from the Galaxy Note II features, which include the multi view feature (Multi-Windows Multitasking in Galaxy Note II) and the New Gallery App, similar to the one on Note II. Other features include page buddy, customizable notification panel, continuous input in Samsung keyboard like that of the Android 4.2, smart rotation, Paper Artist App and Group Artist App. The disabling of the brightness slider in the notification panel is also included.

At this moment, only Poland is up for the upgrade. There’s no available download in KIES just yet, but it is likely in the pipeline.

Google Wallet Card Coming To Reality, Release Goes Imminent

Google Wallet sure made your payments fuss free, but still, some have yet to embrace this method. Even with the advancement of technology, there are still people that prefer to do things the conventional way like paying those shopped items with that stiff plastic card. Well, more good stuff to Google Wallet users. This mobile payment platform is set to make it physical, a real Google Wallet Card.

Google Wallet Card Coming To Reality, Release Goes Imminent

If you’re not just up for Google Wallet’s tap and pay method, then this card is probably for you. It functions just like the Google Wallet, serving to replace credit and debit cards, but without the use of NFC. The charges will go to the default payment source set on Google Wallet app. Payment processes will be at the most convenient way with Google Wallet Card as you don’t have to bring all those credit cards, just this and your phone.

And Google has more up their sleeve. Features such as depositing and withdrawing money from your Wallet balance will be up as well. Other than that, they could also bring person to person money transfers and they are apparently to support mass transit cards.

Google hasn’t spilled the beans yet about this app, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Apple Loses To Samsung on UK; Fixing of Ads Imminent

When it comes to the tablet war in Europe, the score seems to be Samsung 1 and Apple 0. An appeals court has affirmed a judge’s earlier decision that Samsung hasn’t infringed on the design of Apple’s iPad. Furthermore, Apple is now required to post ads on select newspapers, as well as on its website, saying that Samsung didn’t copy its tablet design.

Apple Loses To Samsung on UK; Fixing of Ads Imminent

The hoopla started when the Cupertino based company sued Samsung over the alleged similarities between the iPad and Galaxy Tab. But Judge Colin Birrs had ruled last July that the Samsung tablet was “not as cool” as the iPad and customers won’t be confusing the two. Apple appealed the decision but Britain’s Court of Appeals has upheld the previous ruling, further validating Samsung’s case and effectively preventing any other legal disputes regarding the tablets from being filed again in that part of the world.

With regards to the ruling’s other condition, the order for Apple to place an ad admitting that Samsung didn’t encroach on their design patent along with a link to the original ruling was to “correct the damaging impression” the lawsuit might have made to Samsung’s reputation, as well as to clear up any confusion it might cause consumers.

South Korea’s Samsung has expressed their contentment in the decision but Apple has so far declined to make any comment. Apple can still appeal this decision to the Supreme Court though.
