The primary focus for EA Tiburon has been to come up with a vastly improved running game for Madden NFL, and if the new game play is to be believed, the studio was able to accomplish it with Run Free. The mechanics of Run Free essentially gives all the players new moves, with higher ranking players having special moves. With the new system, players can do up to 30 carrier moves like jukes, spins, stiff arms, trucks or different combination of them.

EA Tiburon has also revamped its Infinity Engine. This physics engine initially appeared in last year’s Madden NFL 13 but this time around, a newer version will be used on Madden 25. It boasts of a new Force Impact system that makes moves like stiff arms look and feel more satisfying since they look realistic. Changes have also been made to rushing moves like the “ball carrier avoidance.” Running backs can now discover new routes and can push off their very own linemen. Other changes promised by the Force Impact system are better targeting during run blocking downfield or at the scrimmage line and smoother cuts.

Madden NFL 25 is set to be launched on August 27 on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Mob of the Dead Zombies Gameplay With New Wonder Weapons

A new Zombie game mode is joining The Call of Duty Black Ops 2’s latest DLC package Uprising as a separate map or gameplay. It will feature new celebrities – Chazz Palminten, Michael Madsen, Ray Liotta and Joe Pantoliano all playing their assigned roles in a new setting, the Alcatraz prison. The gameplay will have a mobster-like theme as shown by the fact that three of the characters are of Italian background.

Nevertheless, we are focusing on the zombies which make their fourth appearance in the Call of Duty franchise and the second in a non-traditional survival mode. The characters need to battle it out with the Zombies to get out of the island-prison with the use of improvised weaponry, blunt instruments, and a wonder weapon. The zombies were the prison’s guards and inmates trapped in the island and zombified in time and they had infested and overran the island unknown to the quartet. It will take all their mob-derived skills and experiences to fight the zombies to the end.

As for the wonder weapon, it  has the familiar look of an acid sprayer and design of a shotgun combined into one. But whatever its final form is, its aim is the annihilation the zombies. The gameplay comes with the Uprising’s release in April 16 via Xbox Live. See video below for the map pack preview.

Guild Wars 2: Super Adventure Box Is Not A Joke, Gameplay Revealed

Fans of Guild Wars 2 were expecting game developer ArenaNet to come out with a rad prank for April Fool’s Day. And they weren’t disappointed when Guild Wars newest content, the Super Adventure Box, went back to the eighties. But the prank here is that it’s not a prank. The Super Adventure Box is not a joke.

Players are introduced to this astounding Inception-style world within a world by the Asuran Moto. I’m pretty sure that once inside you will, like your character, gawk at the pixilated world that had once entranced gamers who grew up on Super Mario and Zelda.

The Super Adventure Box boasts of 3 levels of 256 color graphics, blockish-looking trees, bunnies, doggies, spiders, pogo mushrooms and enough puzzles to hone your critical thinking and combat skills. Actually, that part about your skills isn’t true. It’s presumed that your character already knows those things. The goal of the Super Adventure Box is to collect as many baubles as you can so you can buy other cool items. Players can choose to play either the Infantile Mode or the Normal Mode and explore without fear since the fall damage has been turned off.

Executives from ArenaNet have admitted that they initially intended the Super Adventure Box as a joke, but it transformed into something cool and fun the longer they worked on it. The Super Adventure Box is available for free this whole month of April so enjoy it while you can.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Gameplay & Trailer

Up towards the end, Hideo Kojima really milked the controversy surrounding Joakim Mogren and Phantom Pain when he appeared during his stint at the Game Developers Conference with his head swathed in bandages. The move was a confirmation of sorts that Moby Dick Studios was bogus and reinforced the idea that The Phantom Pain is really a Metal Gear game.

Kojima’s presentation was one of the highlights of the GDC that day, along with a new trailer that showed a mishmash of images from both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, further confusing some people who weren’t doing a good job keeping up with the twists and turns in the Metal Gear V saga. Fortunately, Kojima clarified during the GDC panel that Metal Gear Solid 5 is an amalgamation of both. Apparently, the next installation of the Metal Gear franchise will be called Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain while Ground Zeroes will be its prologue.

Based on the trailer, MGS 5 revolves around Snake who wakes up after a 9 year coma and immediately has to escape from an attack. Of course, muscle atrophy and disorientation will undoubtedly make this difficult. His escape from the hospital serves as a tutorial and once out in the world, the real game commences.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be released on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox, but there’s no word yet on when this will happen.
