Words on the street is that Microsoft might introduce a new version of its Surface tablet at this year’s Build developer conference with a few tweaks and careful makeover of its innards.

The Surface 2 tablet has been rumored to still run on Windows 8 platform but has been cautiously done in order improve sales performance compared to the original Surface RT and Pro models introduced last year. Leaked reports came from supply chain sources but no specific information was divulged as of this moment. However, considering the trend on today’s tablets, Redmond might introduce 7 and 9-inch configurations for its Surface 2 slates.
In addition, Microsoft is said to change its previous chassis manufacturer, Chungnam Precision Casing, to Ju Teng. Hardware components would also still be coming from previous manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, Intel and Nvidia but there were no confirmations from these companies whether Microsoft’s next-gen Surface tablet is certainly for real.
This year’s Microsoft Build developer conference will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco this coming June 26-28. It is a perfect place for Redmond to reveal the next-generation of its Surface tablet. In addition, future updates for its desktop and mobile platforms will be discussed. What techies around are excited about, however, is the revelation of “Project Blue“. The scope of which will include advancement on Microsoft’s devices and services.
