Dell XPS 18 AIO: Price and Shipping Date Now Available

US-based consumer electronics supplier Dell has unveiled its latest all-in-one desktop PC that caters to users who wish to have a working station with big touchscreen display minus the bulk of traditional desktop PCs.

The new Dell XPS 18 is equipped with a huge 18.4-inch touch screen display with full-HD resolution (1080p) and will be offered in three different variants. Looking closely inside, it is powered by Intel processor ranging from the cheapest Intel Pentium 2117U processor (with 1.8GHz, 2M cache) to Ivy Bridge Core i3-3227U (1.9GHz, 3M cache) or if you prefer a more high-end variant, the Core i5-3337U (2.7GHz 3M cache).

The starting level has the following specs: Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 320GB SATA HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, Windows 8 64-bit, wireless keyboard and mouse and pre-loaded McAfee anti-virus (trial version). The higher-end models differ only in terms of processor and RAM (the second tier offers 4GB while the highest offers 8GB). All models weighs 4.85lbs which is a tad heavy for the ladies specially if they want to carry it around the house. Of course, it still depends on individual preferences.

Interested customers can now pre-order the XPS 18 AIO PC at Dell’s website. The desktop models cost $ 900, $ 1000 and $ 1349, respectively and are expected to ship by next month.

Dell XPS 18 Hybrid AIO Tablet PC Defies Norm

The XPS 18 is the new portable AIO tablet PC from Dell. Designed to compete against the Sony VAIO Tap 20, the XPS 18 has the functionality of a tablet as it is portable enough to be transported from the office to one’s own living room. However, it may not be an ideal riding companion in the subway.

The new XPS 18 features a built-in battery that gives the tablet PC a runtime rate of five hours. Weighing at 4.85 pounds, it boasts of an 18.4-inch display with 1080p. Its enormous size eventually makes the user feel tired after holding it for only a few minutes. If that’s the case, there are two things that can be done. Either we expose its flip-out plastic feet hidden on the rear or we lay it flat on a table or desktop. The second option is especially good when playing games and doing other stuff that requires working on a tablet that is laid flat.

The all-in-one tablet PC comes with a Bluetooth –enabled keyboard and mouse with an optional dock as an added accessory. Base models will feature a dual-core Pentium ULV while those on the high-end side will run with a selection of Core i3, i5, and i7 processors. All models however will have Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 core, RAM of 8GB, and SSD of 512GB.

Exploring the sides of the XPS 18, one would notice the speakers nestled on its left and right-hand sides which deliver an impressive audio experience. There are even two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port found for that added versatility and functionality feature otherwise desired by ‘portaholics’ or seriously speaking, by those looking for a USB transceiver for their keyboard or mouse.

With a webcam on the tablet PCs screen side and no camera on its rear, it cannot be used as a mobile tablet. It is designed for the restless homebody who wants to bring his PC from bedroom to kitchen to patio.

The Dell XPS 18 will be arriving in the US shores and in selected European countries on April 16. Pricing scheme will start at $ 899.99 with the optional desktop stand that can be tilted and recharged for the price of $ 50.
