Samsung ATIV Book 6: Leaked Price For Windows 8 Notebook

Windows 8 notebooks are dime a dozen nowadays because of its cool look and awesome features. And that’s the reason why Samsung has been joining the Win8 laptop bandwagon for quite some time now. Branded as ATIV, the latest model coming our way is the ATIV Book 6 (NP680Z5E-X01US) according to its leaked product page.

Sammy has already removed the details about ATIV Book 6 notebook on its site but our resourceful friends managed to pull out important specs. The US-bound Windows 8 laptop has a 15.6-inch display boasting of 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution. Under the hood it is powered by a quad core Intel Core i7 processor with AMD Radeon HD8770M GPU, 8GB RAM, RAMaccelerator, 1TB HDD storage and 8 hours battery life. Connectivity and ports include WiDI support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, LAN, HDMI, VGA, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, JBL stereo speakers and 720p HD webcam.

If you noticed, key specs found on the ATIV Book 6 was similar to Samsung’s Series 7 Chronos particularly the former’s processor, GPU and premium JBL speakers. Interested ATIV notebook fanboys can get the ATIV Book 6, which comes in Ash Black hue, for a hefty starting price of $ 1,200. Release date is still a mystery as of this writing so stay tuned.

Samsung ATIV Smart PC & Pro Version: Price and Features Revealed

Samsung had a very busy day during the IFA 2012 Unpacked event. The company announced two soon-to-be released tablets, the Samsung ATIV Smart PC and the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro. These new ATIV tablets use Windows 8 so they can run on both the new OS’s applications and the classic Windows 7 desktop apps.

Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC and Smart PC Pro share certain characteristics. Both hybrid tablets have 11.6” displays that use touch screen technology and have dock-in keyboards that can be attached magnetically, making it stable enough to be used like laptops. Both are also compatible with the S-Pen for using with the S Note app.

However, that’s where the similarities end. Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC will be using Intel’s Clovertrail, a low-power dual-core CPU. And because this new CPU doesn’t require fans to cool it, the company was able to make the tablet 9.9mm thin. The Smart PC also has 1 136 x 768 pixel panel, 2GB of RAM, 128GB of SSD storage, 3G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi. It also has a 2-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera. Battery life for this tablet would be around 13 hours, which is more than good enough for most users.

The ATIV Smart PC Pro, on the other hand, will be a bit bulkier at 11.9mm because its Intel core i5 CPU would need cooling. The Smart PC Pro has 4GB of RAM, 256GB storage and a battery life of about 8 hours. The Smart PC Pro’s LCD has 1980 x 1020 pixel Full HD, a 2-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera. This is the perfect tablet-laptop hybrid for those who need something a bit more powerful than the usual tablets.

Samsung hasn’t made any definite announcements of when new ATIV tablet hybrids will be released and how much they’ll go for. However, several company insiders have mentioned that we only need to be patient for a little bit longer since October is just around the corner. We can only assume that we’ll get more details about the Samsung ATIV Smart PC and Smart PC Pro after Microsoft launches Windows 8 on October 26, 2012.
