A few hours ago, we reported about the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update roll out for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) tablets. Now, we’ve one good news to share with the users of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wi-Fi tablets. Finally, the manufacturer has started seeding the long awaited Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Tab 8.9. In fact the update was supposed to roll out a long time ago, but Sammy couldn’t make it due to some pending issues.

The update will bring with the usual goodies of ICS build, including Face Unlock, improved notifications, data usage and the new Recent Apps shortcut and many more.

The update is now available in the Malaysia over-the-air and users can also grab it through Kies program. Unfortunately, the update isn’t rolling out in all parts of the world, but more are expected to follow in the next few days.

If you rockin’ the Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi, you can check for it manually by going into Settings > About device > System updates. In case you are inpatient for the update, SamMobile has covered for you. The Wi-Fi versions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablets have already received their ICS updates in the U.S. It looks like, T-Mobile is the first carrier to bring the long awaited ICS goodies for the carrier connected Galaxy Tab 10.1 (SGH-T859) tablet. T-Mobile has officially started pushing out the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet.

Unfortunately, ICS update isn’t coming over-the-air (OTA). Users are required to fire up Samsung’s own Kies tool to grab the full ICS download. The new firmware update bumps up the build umber up to T859UVLH6. Download the Kies software (hit the link) and hit up the source link below for full installation instructions on how to upgrade the Tab 10.1.

Good news for the users of the Wi-Fi only Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the U.S., who are still running with Android 3.0 since its launch last Fall on their devices. Finally, the wait is over. Samsung has officially started pushing out the long-awaited Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi devices. The manufacturer has already upgraded the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with ICS build in the U.S., U.K. and Italy The Android version is 4.0.4, and the build version is IMM76D.

The long-awaited update brings not only ICS goodies, but also an updated version of Touchwiz UX that’s quite similar to the newest Galaxy Tab 2 series of 7-inch and 10.1-inch devices.

You can connect your tablet to your computer and update via Samsung’s Kies application, or wait for the 313MB over-the-air (OTA) update to automatically appear and you need to be connected to strong Wi-Fi connection to grab the ICS build. If you haven’t received the update yet, you can try to pull the update manually by heading into Settings > About device > Software update > Update.
