A developer over at Modaco forum has built CyanogenMod 9 from source for HTC One X smartphone and based on initial user feedbacks, the firmware works pretty smooth. Since the custom ROM is based on CyanogenMod 9, there will be no trace of HTC’s Sense UI on your smartphone after you have flashed this firmware. However every good thing comes with a price to pay for.
This custom ROM works only on the international version of One X powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The 4G LTE model that features a Snapdragon S4 chipset and sold in the US by AT & T and Rogers in Canada is not supported by this software build. In terms of bugs, the only major feature that is reported not to work for now is WiFi tethering but that could change with a future update.

Even though the ROM is based on CyanogenMod 9, it is not an official release from the CyanogenMod 9 team but is built from the source code by a third party called Kang. The CyanogenMod 9 team will produce their own version in the near future. The menu key is recreated in software so user need not worry about the ordeals of navigation. It is to be noted that flashing this custom ROM will eat up your warranty so make sure you proceed with the flashing if you really want it.
Always remember to take a back up of all your data present in the smartphone before proceeding with the update. The complete installation instructions along with the operational and non-operational features and change logs are available in the thread at Modaco forum. Don’t forget to drop in your feedbacks after you have tried out this ROM.
